Easily Zesting Overly Ripe Citrus | Tuesday's Tip of the Day!
Don’t you just hate it when a recipe calls for 1 teaspoon lemon zest and your lemon has reached – rather, extended – its “prime?” I absolutely do! Here is a quick trick for getting those last little shards of lemony (or lime or orange) deliciousness.
Rinse:
- Rinse the lemon and dry well.
Freeze:
- Place the lemon in the freezer for 30 – 45 minutes until firm.
Zest:
- Now that the lemon, and peel, have hardened, you can get a better grip on the lemon while your microplane zests like a true champ!
