Burrata cheese…that creamy deliciousness that makes a show-stopping presentation and intriguing conversation with several oohh’s and aahh’s interjected throughout. So, what is Burrata cheese and what’s all the fuss?
So, what is Burrata?
Burrata cheese at first glance resembles a fresh Mozzarella ball, but when split open, the interior reveals a rich oozing soft filling of Mozzarella soaked in heavy cream. The outer “shell” is the same consistency as mozzarella with the only difference coming from the hidden cavity of triple cream nestled inside its interior.
How to buy?
In a bag or container fitted with a lid fully submerged in water. The key is making sure it is fully hydrated so that it doesn’t dry out.
How to Use:
With a creamy, oozy interior and mildly delicate flavor profile, Burrata is one of those cheeses that makes a lasting impression when discovered. Try enjoying with a light dusting of Maldon salt, drizzle of EVO and hint of balsamic vinegar or with fresh fruit (cantaloupe and roasted grapes are a few of my favorites), on a bed of arugula, with sliced heirloom tomatoes, roasted peppers, or even cured meats. Paired with a light refreshing white wine, you are on your way to pure bliss!
