Be in the Know, Buy a Meat Thermometer | Wednesday's in the Know!
It’s BBQ season and if your family is anything like mine, your grill will become the centerpiece of your home. To ensure you are grilling some of the finest – and safest – bites in town, its essential you know how to temp your meat without cutting into it!
Don’t Slice Your Steak to Check for Doneness:
First bit of advice, don’t slice into your meat to see if it is done! By doing this, all those delicious juices (juices = flavor) you worked so hard to build during the cooking process, come streaming out like a spilt can of coca cola.
Do purchase a Meat Thermometer:
The best way to test the doneness of your protein, is to invest in a meat thermometer that has been accurately calibrated. Your local cooking store, like Sur La Table, or even most major grocery stores, have options from which you can choose from. You don’t have to get fancy and spend a lot of money, but you do need accuracy! My meat thermometer isSur La Table’s brand and cost me $14.99.
