Inspiration for this delicious summertime drink came from a summer vacation in Florida where the only way to cool yourself was through hydration. This summertime favorite is naturally sweet and a healthy alternative to sugary beverages. Add a splash of gin or rum and you have an adult version in a matter of seconds!
Yield: 6 cups
Preparation time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: N/A
1 honeydew melon (approximately 4 pounds), peeled, seeds removed, cut into 2-inch chunks
1/4 cup loosely packed fresh mint leaves
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
1. In a blender, like Vitamix, add honeydew and mint. Blend on low until incorporated then high until smooth.
2. Using a fine mesh strainer, strain the mixture discarding any remaining pith.
3. Add fresh lime juice, stir to combine and serve over ice.
4. For an adult version, add a splash of gin right before serving.
Kitchen Note: Consider garnishing with freshly cut lime or cucumber and a “fancy” or tropical straw for festive sipping.
